Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister and Revenue Minister G Parameshwara has called for Karnataka’s response to the seventh draft concerning the Kasturirangan report to reflect a consensus in the legislature, saying ruling and opposition members should debate the issue before the state conveys its position to the Centre.
Speaking in the Legislative Council, he said the state had to submit its views within the prescribed period. The purpose of bringing the matter before the House was to arrive at a common position in Karnataka’s interests, rather than send only the government’s opinion unilaterally, according to a Karnataka Varthe release.
State response to follow legislative discussion
Parameshwara urged members on both sides of the House to speak freely on the draft and help shape a position that protected the state’s interests.
The release describes his appeal for consensus; it does not report that a resolution had already been adopted or that Karnataka’s response had been submitted. It also does not specify the deadline for replying to the Centre.
