Bengaluru: In a chilling incident on the city outskirts, a young man was allegedly murdered by his own friend over a long-standing grudge in Anekal taluk. The accused reportedly lured the victim for a “dinner party” before killing him in a pre-planned attack.
The victim, identified as Mohan, a two-wheeler mechanic from Tamil Nadu, had recently returned to his native place near Bengaluru and was staying with relatives. On April 16, he was invited by his friend Madhu for dinner. Unaware of the trap, Mohan accompanied him, only to be taken to a bar where the main accused Manoj was already present.
According to police, the trio consumed alcohol and later moved to a secluded area near Matanahalli. As the night progressed, an old dispute dating back two years resurfaced. The argument escalated, and Manoj allegedly attacked Mohan, eventually killing him using a stone after he fell to the ground.
Investigations revealed that the motive behind the murder was a personal grudge stemming from a previous altercation, where Manoj felt insulted by Mohan in front of others. Police said Manoj had been waiting for an opportunity to take revenge, and executed the plan when Mohan returned to the village.
The body was dumped in a deserted area, and the accused initially attempted to mislead authorities. However, suspicion arose quickly as locals pointed towards Manoj, who had last been seen with the victim.
Police teams launched a search operation, arrested Manoj, and during interrogation, he reportedly confessed to the crime. His associate Madhu is also being questioned for his role in the incident.
The brutal killing has shocked residents of the area, highlighting how a minor dispute escalated into a fatal act of revenge. Further investigation is underway.
