BENGALURU: A.T. Ramaswamy, a former MLA who switched from JDS to BJP during the last assembly elections, has officially resigned from the BJP.
In a letter addressed to BJP state president B.Y. Vijayendra, Ramaswamy expressed his concerns about the alarming increase in global temperatures leading to climate imbalances. These imbalances have resulted in devastating natural disasters such as floods, droughts, cyclones, and earthquakes.
Ramaswamy highlighted the contamination of essential resources like water, air, and food, emphasizing the depletion of rivers, streams, and groundwater due to the destruction of natural habitats. He stressed the urgent need for raising awareness and taking action to protect the environment to safeguard wildlife and ensure the survival of all living beings.
“I firmly believe that the preservation of our environment should take precedence over political agendas. Therefore, I have made the decision to dedicate my time and efforts, alongside my lifelong commitment to agriculture, towards environmental conservation,” Ramaswamy stated in his resignation letter to Vijayendra.
Acknowledging their previous conversation on the matter, Ramaswamy concluded by officially resigning from his BJP membership to pursue his passion for environmental protection.
