Five Schoolchildren Fall Out of Moving School Van in Bengaluru; CCTV Captures Shocking Incident
Bengaluru, June 26: Five schoolchildren fell out of a moving school van after its rear door opened while the vehicle was in motion in Bengaluru’s Gayathri Layout, with the entire incident captured on CCTV.
The incident occurred at around 3 pm within the jurisdiction of the K.R. Puram Traffic Police Station.
CCTV footage shows the rear door of the moving school van opening, following which five children fell onto the road. Fortunately, there were no vehicles immediately behind the van, preventing what could have turned into a major tragedy.
The children reportedly sustained minor injuries, and no serious casualties have been reported.
The exact reason why the rear door opened has not been officially confirmed.
The incident has once again raised serious concerns over the safety standards followed by school transport operators, with allegations that the van was carrying more children than its permitted capacity.
Eyewitnesss and local residents questioned whether adequate safety measures were in place and called for stricter enforcement against overcrowding in school vans and autorickshaws transporting children.
Bengaluru Traffic Police have been conducting regular enforcement drives against overloaded school vehicles and other traffic violations. However, the latest incident has renewed calls for stricter inspections of school transport vehicles.
Parents have also expressed concern over the safety of children commuting to and from schools, urging authorities to ensure that school vehicles comply with prescribed safety norms.
