Deceased had returned from Saudi, and died at a hospital in Hyderabad

Could it be the first Covid-19 related death of a Karnataka resident? A 76-year-old man who had returned to Kalaburagi from Saudi Arabia died at a private hospital in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
Health department officials in Bengaluru are awaiting his swab reports to confirm if this was really the case. However, the Kalaburagi district health officer has already ascertained the death as due to the corona virus and has directed taluk officials monitor the cremation. The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Hussain Siddiqui, who had gone to Saudi Arabia for the ‘Umrah’.
Meanwhile, state health commissioner Pankaj Kumar Pandey requested the media not to create panic over the case. “It is clarified that the rumours floating in the media regarding the death of a 76-year-old man from Kalaburagi owing to Covid-19 is false. His sample for Covid-19 has been collected and sent for testing. The media are requested to help the goverment in creating awareness and not creating panic,’ he said.
Kalaburagi district Deputy Commissioner Sharath said that the suspected was admitted in Private hospital after the complained breathing problem. Later he was shifted in Hyderabad on Wednesday mornings but the hospital in Hyderabad was not equipped to handle the case and he died when he was brought back to Kalaburagi, he added.
