FIRs against 36 for not following home quarantine

BENGALURU:

Cracking the whip against quarantine violators, the state administration has filed FIRs against 36 persons for not following home quarantine orders and for being seen roaming the streets.

As per data shared by the state’s Covid war room, since June 11 around 8,425 persons were found roaming outside in violation of quarantine orders.

To curb such violations, those in quarantine had been asked to download a Corona Watch mobile app and send their selfies every hour. Their movements were also monitored by the app with the help of GPS.

In terms of violations, Kalaburagi district tops the table with FIRs against 24 quarantine violators. Yadgiri accounts for 4 FIRs, Dakshina Kannada and Raichur for 3 FIRs each, and Belagavi and Chikkamagalur for one FIR each.

The number of people found violating home quarantine is: Hassan 1,574, Kalaburagi 1,200, Bengaluru 915, Dakshina Kannada 648, Raichur 489, Davanagere 60, Bidar 860, Bagalkot 129 and Uttara Kannada 99.
