Ex-IAS Officer G. Kumar Naik Scripts Victory in Raichur Lok Sabha Elections
RAICHUR: Retired IAS officer G. Kumar Naik made a seamless transition into politics by securing a landslide victory as a Member of Parliament in the Raichur Lok Sabha constituency on his first attempt.
With a distinguished career in various high-ranking positions as an IAS officer, Kumar Naik had already established a strong reputation for himself. Upon retirement, he decided to run for office as a Congress candidate in the Raichur Lok Sabha constituency, generating significant interest within political and bureaucratic circles.
In a closely contested race against BJP candidate Raja Amresh Naik, Kumar Naik emerged victorious with an impressive margin of 79,781 votes. The Congress candidate received 670966 votes, while the BJP candidate garnered 591185 votes.
The Raichur Lok Sabha constituency, known for its challenging dynamics and representation of reserved categories, posed a tough battleground for the Congress party. However, Kumar Naik navigated through these obstacles and emerged triumphant.
Having concluded his government service with a spotless record, Kumar Naik has now embarked on a new chapter in his political career, ready to make a lasting impact in his second innings in politics.
