Allegedly forged documents to claim compensation and sites

Bengaluru:

The husband of a former BBMP corporator has been accused of cheating the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) by submitting fake documents to claim Rs 37 lakh in compensation and five alternative sites.

The accused is Nagarajaiah, husband of former corporator Veena of Hemmigepura ward (198).

According to a complaint by the BDA’s vigilance wing on Wednesday, Hemmigepura resident Abdul Wahab had sold 5.3 acres of land to Mohammed Shareef, an NRI based in Kuwait. The BDA acquired the land parcel for a project a few years ago.

Nagarajaiah allegedly contacted Wahab’s sons, saying the BDA owed them compensation for acquiring the land. He allegedly obtained their signatures and pocketed five alternative sites given by the BDA. The complaint says Nagarajaiah submitted fake documents showing Shareef had passed away.
