KALABURAGI: A drunk man, who jumped into a flowing river from a bridge-cum-barrage died after drowning in Patawad village in Kamalapur taluk on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Sajid (25) from Hyderabad and the entire incident was caught on a mobile phone camera of his friend.
Two friends who got into the water made no attempt to save him.
Sajid and his friends had visited a dargah at Cheganta village and had consumed alcohol. They then went for a swim in the river when Sajid drowned and died. In the video shot by the friend, two others can be seen approaching the drowning Sajid, but made no effort to rescue him.
The friend shooting the video can be heard pleading with the two other men in the water and also with passersby to rescue the drowning Sajid. On hearing the pleas, a passerby also jumped into the water, but could not locate Sajid. The Kamalapur police have registered a case in this regard.
