Dog Food Packets, ₹9 Crore Drugs & Rajdhani Route: DRI Busts High-Tech Smuggling Racket in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: In a dramatic, movie-style crackdown, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has busted a high-value drug smuggling racket in Bengaluru, seizing narcotics worth a staggering ₹9 crore that were being transported in a highly deceptive manner—hidden inside dog food packets on a Rajdhani Express train from Delhi.

According to officials, the accused attempted to outsmart law enforcement by concealing the contraband within packets of dog food, ensuring it would evade suspicion during transit. The consignment was being transported via the Delhi–Bengaluru Rajdhani Express when DRI sleuths, acting on precise intelligence inputs, intercepted and seized the drugs.

The operation led to the arrest of the primary accused, while two more individuals linked to the network were also taken into custody. Officials confirmed that this was not a small-time operation but part of a well-organised interstate smuggling network.

Shocking Digital Trail: 40 Debit Cards, 70+ SIMs

During follow-up searches at the accused’s residence in Bengaluru, officials uncovered a massive digital and financial trail:

  • Over 40 debit cards
  • More than 70 SIM cards

These findings point towards a sophisticated network possibly involved in money laundering, fake identities, and coordinated illegal transactions linked to the drug trade.

The use of premium trains like Rajdhani Express for smuggling has raised serious concerns about new-age trafficking methods. Officials believe traffickers are increasingly using everyday items and public transport systems to move high-value contraband undetected.

The DRI team’s timely intelligence and swift action ensured the drugs were intercepted before reaching the city’s distribution network. Further investigation is underway to trace the source, supply chain, and wider network involved.
