Doctors on contract threaten mass resignations if not made permanent

Date:

BENGALURU:

Government doctors who have been working on a contract basis for many years have appealed to Deputy Chief Minister CN Ashwath Narayan to make their jobs permanent.

After meeting reps of contractual doctors on Wednesday, the DCM conferred with Additional Chief Secretary of the Health Department Jawaid Akhtar and arranged a meeting for the doctors with the Chief Minister.

There are reportedly 506 doctors working in rural areas, of whom 264 have completed more than three years of service.

The doctors hinted at mass resignations, to which the DCM responded by saying such a step was not advisable in the current pandemic situation.
