BALLARI: A woman officer has made a startling disclosure that she is married to BJP former MLA from Kanakagiri, Basavaraj Dadesugur, who is currently the Koppal district president of the party. This has now led to speculation that the BJP leader may have married a second time secretly.
During Upa Lokayukta Justice B Veerappa’s visit to the district Women and Child Development Department office in Vijayanagar on Friday, Deputy Director Shwetha told the Upa Lokayukta that she was married to Basavaraj Dadesugur. The issue came up when the Upa Lokayukta was inquiring with her about some online payments she had made.
When the Upa Lokayukta questioned about the transaction, Shwetha said she had transferred funds to her husband. To a question on what the husband does for a living, the officer remarked that he is a politician. “My husband is a politician and former MLA…Basavaraj Dadesugur”, she said.
However, Basavaraj Dadesugur, has not made any declaration about his second marriage in his election affidavit filed ahead of the 2023 Assembly polls. Earlier, when Shwetha was Child Development Project Officer at Kanakagiri, audio clips of her conversation with Dadesugur had gone viral. She was later posted as deputy director in Vijayanagar.
