Covid test via X-ray among Karnataka innovations

BENGALURU:

Six Covid-combating products that have so far been imported have been indigenized by Karnataka start-ups under the aegis of the Bangalore Bio Innovation Centre of the IT-BT Department, according to IT-BT minister and Deputy Chief minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayan.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, he said the innovations were inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ concept. He said the state government would provide incentives for the manufacture of the products, calling them ‘better’ than the imported ones.

The products include a virus eliminator, a fluorescent probe as part of Covid test kits, a foetal monitoring device for Covid-positive pregnant women, a medium to transport virus samples, an X-ray based Covid detector, and an anti-viral facewash.

EV Ramana Reddy, Additional Chief Secretary to the IT-BT Department, Dr Jitendra Kumar, Managing Director, Bangalore Bio Innovation Centre, and P P Pradeep, secretary to the Deputy Chief Minister, were among those present.
