The stark difference between official claims about Covid beds aplenty and the ground reality was highlighted in dramatic fashion when an infected person landed up at the Chief Minister’s official residence on Thursday seeking his help to get admitted in a hospital.
The resident of Ambedkar Nagar in Banashankari sent the entire security detail as well as mediapersons present into a panic as he stood at the gate of the CM’s house along with his wife and two children. He said all his attempts to get a hospital bed had failed and his only hope now was direct intervention by the head of the government.
“I have been tested Covid-positive but have not got a bed. I am tired of calling endlessly and running around,” he was heard telling the police personnel posted at the CM’s residence.
He said BBMP had called him to say he had tested positive, but cited lack of beds for not getting him admitted to a hospital. Later, they stopped answering his calls, so in desperation he had decided to approach the CM himself, the man said.
Following the airing of the incident by TV channels (theBengalurulive has also accessed video for our readers), the man was picked up by an ambulance and taken to KC General Hospital.
