NEW DELHI:
Amid Rapid Rise in Covid-19 Cases in country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a virtual meeting with all chief ministers on the prevailing COVID-19 situation and vaccine drive on Wednesday (March 17).
The meeting will be held at 12.30pm. Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa will also be part of the meeting as Karnataka has also witnessed surge in positive cases including Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Gujarat where spike has been reported in dailyc cases.
Six states sees huge surge
Meanwhile as per PIB press release, six States — Maharashtra, Punjab, Karnataka, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu continue to report a surge in the COVID daily new cases. They cumulatively account for 78.41% of the new cases reported in the past 24 hours. 26,291 new cases were registered in the last 24 hours.
Maharashtra has reported the highest daily new cases at 16,620 (accounting for 63.21% of the daily new cases). It is followed by Kerala with 1,792 while Punjab reported 1,492 new cases.
