Bengaluru, August 24: Bengaluru’s draft electoral roll published under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 contains 56,99,660 voters, while 46,88,703 electors from the June 16 draft have been identified under the absent, shifted, dead, duplicate and other (ASDD) categories, District Election Officer and Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao said.

The draft roll, published on Monday in accordance with Election Commission of India directions, comprises 27,69,866 male voters, 29,29,092 female voters and 702 other and third-gender voters.

Electors have one month, from August 24 to September 23, to file claims and objections. Notices and disposal of claims and objections will continue until October 22, and the final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on October 27, 2026, Rao said.

The draft electoral roll has been made available at the offices of Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers and ward offices covering all 28 Assembly constituencies under the District Election Officer-Bengaluru. Voters can also check whether their names are included through the official websites of the Chief Electoral Officer, Karnataka, and the Greater Bengaluru Authority.

According to Rao, the June 16, 2026 draft roll had 1,03,88,363 electors under the Bengaluru District Election Officer’s jurisdiction. Of these, 56,99,660, or 54.87%, have been digitised, while 46,88,703, or 45.13%, have been identified as absent, shifted, dead, duplicate or other category voters.

The number of polling stations across Bengaluru’s 28 Assembly constituencies has increased from 8,972 to 9,008 following rationalisation, with 36 additional polling stations created.

Eligible citizens aged 18 and above can apply for inclusion in the electoral roll by submitting Form 6 with October 1, 2026 as the qualifying date. Applications can also be submitted online through the Election Commission’s Voters’ Portal and its mobile application.

Applicants seeking fresh enrolment must submit proof of age, proof of ordinary residence, a recent passport-size colour photograph and details relating to the declaration form for the previous SIR. Where previous SIR details are unavailable, alternative documents prescribed in the declaration form must be produced during verification.

Rao said there are 24,05,044 ASDD or anomaly cases across the jurisdiction of Bengaluru’s four Additional District Election Officers. Election authorities will issue notices and conduct hearings in these cases.

Voters called for a hearing will be given an opportunity to appear at the specified date and time, produce the required documents and establish their eligibility for continuation in the electoral roll. Attendance at such hearings will be mandatory.

For queries, complaints, suggestions or objections, voters can contact the district helpline on 1950 or 1800-4255-1950.
