BENGALURU:
Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has instructed the state Advocate General to take immediate action for the disposal of 8 million tonnes of seized iron ore in the state.
Reviewing the work of the Department of Mines and Geology on Friday, he directed the officials to focus on the cancelled C-Class mines, stock yards in the state and disposal of ore that had been seized in Bellary, Chitradurga and Tumkur districts before 2016. More grants will be released for drone surveys to prevent illegal stone quarrying, he said.

Minister of Mines and Geology C C Patil said the government will use the money received from contractors for the welfare of people in the mine areas, especially to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
State Chief Secretary TM Vijay Bhaskar, Additional Chief Secretary of the Finance Department ISN Prasad, Principal Secretary of the Mines Department Maheshwar Rao and Mines Department director Sivashankar were present.
