CM Siddaramaiah Launches ₹1,146 Crore Development Projects in Maddur, Slams BJP’s False Claims on Funds

Date:

Maddur/Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday laid the foundation stones and inaugurated various development projects worth a staggering ₹1,146 crore in Maddur constituency, directly challenging the BJP’s criticism that the Congress government lacks funds for development.

Addressing a large gathering during the launch, CM Siddaramaiah declared, “This is our government’s answer to BJP’s false propaganda that there’s no money for development. We have taken up works worth over ₹1,146 crore in one day in Maddur alone.”

Highlighting sector-wise investments, the Chief Minister said the Cauvery Neeravari Nigam alone had executed projects worth ₹560 crore in two years. He dared the BJP to list what development it undertook during its four-year rule in the region.

CM Siddaramaiah also listed the revival of Mandya Sugar Factory, including the clearance of its long-pending power bills and a fresh grant of ₹10 crore for its rehabilitation. He noted that the government had already released ₹52 crore earlier for the same purpose.

He further reminded the public of the ₹5/litre subsidy extended to milk producers and the establishment of a new Agricultural University in Mandya, stating these as examples of the Congress government’s commitment to the farming community.

Responding to the request of Maddur MLA Uday Kumar, Siddaramaiah announced the approval for the development of a 100-feet road in Mandya city, praising the MLA as a “man of few words and many actions.”

He also asserted that the implementation of the Congress party’s five guarantee schemes has boosted purchasing power among the public, thereby enhancing Karnataka’s per capita income to the highest in the country.

Fertilizer Supply Row with Centre Siddaramaiah accused the Union Government of being anti-farmer by not supplying the state’s rightful share of fertilizers, despite repeated requests. “It’s been a week since we wrote to the Centre, yet no supply has come. BJP MPs and Union Ministers from Karnataka must intervene,” he said, throwing a direct challenge.

Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar, District In-charge Minister Cheluvarayaswamy, Ministers H.C. Mahadevappa, Krishna Byre Gowda, Dinesh Gundu Rao, Rahim Khan, and local MLAs including Ravi Ganiga and Dinesh Gooligowda attended the event, which was presided over by Maddur MLA Uday Kumar
