Hiriyur: Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar performed Ganga puja at the Aimangala lake in Hiriyur, Chitradurga district, on Tuesday and laid the foundation stone for work to fill 53 lakes with water, his media team said.
Ministers T. Raghumurthy, K.H. Muniyappa and K.S. Basavanthappa, T.B. Jayachandra, the Karnataka government’s special representative in Delhi, and Congress leader Suhas Sudhakar were among those present, according to the note.
The note did not give the cost of the project or its water source. It also did not say whether the work is linked to the ₹244-crore project to fill 16 lakes and the Gayatri reservoir in Hiriyur, for which a ground-breaking ceremony had been announced for Tuesday.
