Yediyurappa now says he’s awaiting Centre’s nod
BENGALURU:
In a U-turn on Tuesday’s decision to reopen state-run temples from June 1, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa now says he is awaiting the Centre’s nod on reopening temples, churches and mosques in the state.
The CM hinted as much on Wednesday while inaugurating a statue of the country’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, on the occasion of Nehru’s 56th death anniversary.
According to sources, the CM has written to the Prime Minister seeking permission to open temples in the state. The state government is also waiting for the Central government’s permission to open hotels and restaurants.
A state cabinet meeting may be held on Thursday to discuss reopening of places of worship.
