Bengaluru: Abandoned vehicles and unauthorised roadside parking in Attiguppe ward must be cleared within three days, Bengaluru West City Corporation Commissioner Shilpa Nag C T told officials on Monday during an inspection under the Ward One campaign.
She inspected Attiguppe ward (No. 82) in the Vijayanagar division and Dr Rajkumar ward (No. 70) in the Govindaraj Nagar division in the morning.
Attiguppe: parking, posters, poles
Abandoned and parked vehicles were encroaching on road space and obstructing traffic in Attiguppe, the Commissioner noted. She told officials to clear them with the help of the traffic police and to ensure that vehicles are not parked on footpaths.
Electric poles on footpaths are to be removed with BESCOM’s help so that pedestrians can move freely. After seeing posters on the walls of the Sri Sarvajna Underpass, she directed officials to prevent such pasting and to fine violators.
She also called for proper solid waste management and tree pruning, waste segregation at source, action against unauthorised advertisement hoardings and steps for rainwater harvesting in parks.
Dr Rajkumar ward: streetlight monitoring
In Dr Rajkumar ward, where she saw obstacles being removed from a footpath, the Commissioner said officials should get mobile app access to the Centralised Control and Monitoring System for LED streetlights, to make supervision easier.
Both divisions were told to complete development works across their wards through coordination among all departments.
The Ward One campaign is being run on the orders of Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda. Additional Commissioner (Development) Kavitha Rajaram and Chief Engineer Jayashankar B S were among those present.
