CCB takes over probe into murder case of DG&IGP Om Prakash

Date:

BENGALURU: City Police Commissioner Dayanand has said the murder case of Retired Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG&IGP) Om Prakash has been handed over from HSR Layout police to the Central Crime Branch (CCB) for further investigation.

One accused has been arrested and sent to judicial custody in the murder case. The role of the second accused is not clear, and further action will be taken based on forensic reports, he said.

The CCB police will file an application in court for a body warrant and seek custody of the accused, Pallavi, Om Prakash’s wife, for further interrogation.

Pallavi and her daughter Kriti, who are accused of murder, are not cooperating with the investigation and are said to be exhibiting mental instability. They are being defiant and shouting at officials and the police are checking whether they are actually suffering from any mental health issues or if they are pretending to be.

The police have approached NIMHANS hospital doctors to get expert opinion on Pallavi and Kriti’s mental health and behaviour. They are also going through previous medical history to determine if the accused are suffering from any mental illness and if they were undergoing treatment.

During the interrogation of the accused Pallavi, some explosive revelations have come to light. It is alleged that Pallavi and her accomplices hatched a conspiracy to kill Om Prakash, and they planned it for over a week.

Om Prakash had been staying separately, but they forcibly brought him to their daughter’s house. After that, there were frequent quarrels at home and they planned to eliminate him. On Sunday afternoon, Pallavi and others executed their plan when Om Prakash was having lunch after a quarrel.

The primary investigation has revealed that the accused had been planning to kill Om Prakash for some time. Further investigation is under way to uncover more details about the motive behind the murder.
