77-year-old BS Yediyurappa marked the completion of a year as Chief Minister on Monday by tele-connecting with all 30 district headquarters simultaneously, in a technological first for Karnataka. His current stint is also his fourth term in office.
“For the first time in the history of Karnataka, the Information and Public Relations Department had installed a huge screen in the Vidhana Soudha banquet hall which became the medium for the Chief Minister to connect with citizens from all 30 districts as he completed one year in office,” DIPR Joint Director DP Muralidhar told theBengalurulive.
“The district information officers were told to make adequate arrangements in their offices, deputy commissioner’s offices and Zilla Panchayat offices so that a maximum number of people could see the CM’s address,” he added.
Muralidhar claimed it was the first time any state government had used the technology in a major way. “Senior ministers and politicians attended the ceremony in Bengaluru while arrangements were made for other district ministers at the district headquarters. Our Chief Minister loves to be with the people but this time he had to resort to virtual technology,” he added.
