BENGALURU:

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai conveyed his condolences to the family of the ‘Nightingale of India’, the late Lata Mangeshkar, by caliing Usha Mangeshkar, sister of the legendary singer, over the phone.

Karnataka joins the rest of the nation in mourning an institution called Lataji whose voice has been rendered immortal with her countless matchless melodies.#LataMangeshkar

ಈ ಜಗತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲಿಯತನಕ ಸಂಗೀತ ಇರುತ್ತದೆಯೋ, ಎಲ್ಲಿಯವರೆಗೂ ಹಾಡುಗಾರಿಕೆ ಇರುತ್ತದೆಯೋ, ಅಲ್ಲಿಯವರೆಗೂ ಗಾನ ವಿದುಷಿ ಲತಾ ಮಂಗೇಶ್ಕರ್ ಅವರು ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬರ ಮನದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಚಿರಸ್ಥಾಯಿಯಾಗಿ ಉಳಿಯಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರ ಆತ್ಮಕ್ಕೆ ಚಿರಶಾಂತಿ ಸಿಗಲಿ.

“Lata Mangeshkar will live on in the hearts and breath of the people for generations. She has a special place in the hearts of the people. We have lost a great singer. State mourning has been ordered in Karnataka,” the Chief Minister told Usha Mangeshkar.

ಖ್ಯಾತ ಗಾಯಕಿ ಲತಾ ಮಂಗೇಶ್ಕರ್ ನಿಧನ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲೂ 2 ದಿನ ಶೋಕಾಚರಣೆಗೆ ಅಧಿಕೃತ ಆದೇಶ ಹೊರಡಿಸಿದ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸರ್ಕಾರ. ಇಂದು ಮತ್ತು ನಾಳೆ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಶೋಕಾಚರಣೆ. ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಮನರಂಜನಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳು ರದ್ದು. ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಧ್ವಜ ಅರ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಹಾರಿಸಲು ಸೂಚನೆ.#LataMangeshkar pic.twitter.com/hlPCtXdKDF

Flag at half-mast

The Karnataka government has ordered state mourning of 2 days as a mark of respect for Lata Mangeshkar. There will be no public recreational programmes and the national flag will fly at half-mast during the mourning period, a state government notification said.
