Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has approved the release of ₹1,239.47 crore towards 26 months of pending salary arrears for officers and employees of the state’s four road transport corporations, Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy announced on Wednesday.

In a press statement, the Minister said that based on the recommendations of a committee headed by retired IAS officer Srinivasamurthy, the government has agreed to release arrears for 14 months—from January 1, 2022 to February 28, 2023—amounting to ₹718.93 crore as a special grant.

Additionally, the government has approved a special grant of ₹520.54 crore towards 12 months of arrears covering the period from January 1 to December 31, 2020.

Regarding wage revision, Ramalinga Reddy stated that orders have been issued to initiate discussions and conciliation with labour unions to determine the percentage of salary hike for officers and employees of the four road transport corporations, effective April 1, 2025.

The Minister appealed to labour unions and employees to cooperate with the government in implementing the wage revision and arrears payment order.
