K P Sreekanth says he won’t release ‘Salaga’ till full occupancy is allowed
BENGALURU:
While cinema lovers are thrilled at the reopening of theatres from October 15, big- budget movie makers are disappointed and say the 50 per cent theatre occupancy guidelines will make it difficult for them to recover the crores spent on big productions.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, ‘Salaga’ producer K P Sreekanth said he will not release the movie until the government allows full occupancy in theatres.
“Ours is a big-budget movie. If only half of the theatre’s seating capacity is allowed, we will incur a loss. We will release the movie once full seating capacity is allowed,” he said.
He added, “We will have a meeting on Monday with other producers, including ‘Robert’, ‘Kotigobba3’, ‘KGF’ and ‘Yuvarathna’ film-makers.”
Sreekanth said it would difficult for OTT platforms to substitute for big-budget movies.
