BBMP chief Gaurav Gupta orders opening of CCCs totalling 1,500 beds across city
Amid the galloping increase in Covid-19 cases in Bengaluru, which now has 57,575 active cases and a positivity rate of 6.80%, BBMP has decided to open Covid Care Centres aggregating 1,500 beds across its eight zones.
An order with immediate effect was issued by Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta on Tuesday evening. In fact, Gupta has already asked his officers at the zonal level to identify 50-bed facilities, either in hotels or at other places, which can be converted into Covid Care Centres.
Among the potential CCCs, BBMP has identified one with the highest capacity of 370 beds in Rajarajeshwarinagar’s North-Eastern Girls’ Hostel, and one with just 40 beds at Dasarahalli’s Hotel Raj Vista on Hesaraghatta Road.
The potential CCCs identified are: East Zone –Government Boys’ Arts College (210 beds) and Shri Sai Kalyan Mantap (150); South Zone — Bosch CCC (80) and National Games Village (250); West Zone — Government Ayurvedic College (200); Bommanahalli — Multi-Speciality Hospital’s Vintage In-hotel (50); Rajarajeshwarinagar — North Eastern Girls’ Hostel (370); Dasarahalli — Hotel Raj Vista on Hessaraghatta Road (40); Yelahanka — Government Girls’ Hostel (50), and Mahadevapura — Radha Hometel (105).
Gupta has ordered the Zonal Joint Commissioners to ensure that asymptomatic people who get admitted in these CCCs are provided adequate medical facilities and all other facilities as per the rates prescribed by the state government. Further, he has ordered arrangements for the required staff in these CCCs.
Deaths still low
As per the bulletin released by BBMP on Tuesday evening, the positivity rate in Bengaluru has now gone up to 6.80% with an active rate of 11.66%. However, the fatality rate of Bengaluru remains in control at 0.5%.
