New BBMP plant can turn out 60 truckloads of hot mix per day
BENGALURU:
‘No potholes in the next 15 days’ is BBMP chief N Manjunatha Prasad’s promise to long-suffering Bengalureans. His confidence stems from the setting up of a batch mix plant that can turn out around 60 truckloads of hot mix a day. The plant is being built on a 4.5 acre plot near Kannur at a cost of Rs 7.5 crore.
On Sunday, Prasad visited the site along with Special Commissioner (Projects) Manoj Jain and Engineer-in-chief MR Venkatesh and Chief Engineer (Road Infrastructure) BS Prahlad.
As the hot mix is being made inhouse, the cost will be reduced and the quality maintained. Besides, there will be no need to rely on contractors for the hot mix, he said.
The civic chief said all zonal chief engineers have been instructed to adhere to the 15-day timeframe for filling potholes.
