Bengaluru: A tragic and suspicious case has surfaced in the city after a 1.5-month pregnant software engineer was found dead under mysterious circumstances. The victim, identified as Shilpa (Hubballi native), was working as an engineer in Bengaluru and had been married to Praveen for three years.

While initial reports suggested suicide, Shilpa’s parents have alleged that she was murdered by her husband Praveen, along with his mother Shanta and sister-in-law Nandini Priya. They claimed that Shilpa had endured continuous harassment at her marital home and that repeated panchayat settlements had failed to resolve the issues.

According to the family, Shilpa had returned to her parental home three months ago following domestic disputes but was later taken back after a compromise. Shockingly, she was found dead yesterday, with her parents alleging that this was not suicide but a planned murder staged as hanging.

Shilpa’s parents pointed to injury marks on her body, particularly around her neck, which they claimed did not resemble suicide marks but rather signs of physical assault. They also alleged that Praveen had lied about being an engineer working in a software company, while in reality, he was running a pani puri stall.

The family further stated that they had spent over ₹50 lakh on the wedding and that Shilpa, who also had a young child, was subjected to repeated torture by her in-laws despite multiple reconciliations.

Following a complaint at SG Palya Police Station, officers conducted a spot inspection and registered a case. Praveen has reportedly been taken into custody for questioning, and police are investigating the allegations.

Meanwhile, Shilpa’s final rites are being arranged at her parents’ home in Hubballi, as her grieving family demands justice.
