Bengaluru South Commissioner Leads by Example, Performs Self-Enumeration for Census Drive
Bengaluru: In a significant push towards efficient census operations, Bengaluru South City Corporation Commissioner and Principal Census Officer K.N. Ramesh personally participated in the self-enumeration process, setting an example for field staff and supervisors.
During a visit to the census training camp being held at R.V. Dental College in J.P. Nagar, the Commissioner reviewed preparedness measures to ensure smooth and systematic implementation of the national census across the Bengaluru South jurisdiction.
At the training centre, the Commissioner actively took part in the ‘Self-Enumeration’ process by registering his own details online. His participation encouraged enumerators and supervisors to adopt the same approach, resulting in over 100 personnel simultaneously engaging in the self-enumeration exercise.
Speaking on the occasion, Ramesh emphasized that self-enumeration by citizens through online platforms would not only save time but also improve data accuracy. He noted that officials must lead by example to promote wider public participation.
Interaction with Field Staff:
The Commissioner also held detailed discussions with enumerators regarding technical challenges and potential field-level issues. Instead of limiting his role to formal instructions, he personally interacted with staff members, addressing their queries and providing on-the-spot solutions.
Guidance was provided on mobile application usage, data security protocols, and challenges related to household identification during enumeration.
Highlighting the importance of the census, Ramesh stated that it forms the foundation for future policy planning and governance. He added that covering every household in a city like Bengaluru is a challenging task, and it is the responsibility of each enumerator to ensure accurate data collection for every citizen in Bengaluru South.
Training in-charge officer Manu Gowda and other officials were present during the session.
