Bengaluru: In a proactive step towards improving community engagement and public safety, District Superintendent of Police C.K. Baba inaugurated the ‘Police at Every Home’ initiative at Ambedkar Community Hall, Rajaghatta Village, Doddaballapur taluk. The launch event also included a grievance redressal meeting for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
As part of the initiative, police officers will visit every household to listen to citizens’ grievances and take necessary action. This move aims to increase public awareness about legal issues, gather crucial local intelligence, and foster trust-based relationships between the police and the community.
SP Baba stated that the program will help prevent crimes, identify suspects effectively, and enhance cybercrime awareness. The initiative is designed to curb criminal activities, build a sense of safety among citizens, and educate the public on how to access police services more efficiently.
“The previous model relied on citizens coming to police stations to file complaints. Now, police will proactively reach out to people at their homes to record grievances, making the system more citizen-friendly,” SP Baba emphasized.
He also warned about the growing threat of digital crimes, including online scams and financial fraud through fake digital arrests, urging residents to stay vigilant.
DYSP Ravi Kumar added that each police station has mapped households under the e-beat system, and officers will regularly visit these areas to ensure public safety and gather feedback.
During the SC/ST grievance hearing, several complaints were raised, particularly concerning caste-based discrimination in schools and revenue-related issues. However, it was acknowledged that police are performing commendably in handling atrocity-related cases in the taluk.
The meeting was attended by Sub-Inspector Sadiq Pasha (Rural PS), Inspector Amaresh Gowda (City PS), Inspector Naveen Kumar (Women’s PS), Inspector Kalappa (Dodda Belavangala PS), Inspector Rao Ganesh (Hosahalli PS), Dalit community leaders, and police personnel.
