Karnataka reports 4,991 cases; state’s positivity rate climbs to 4.19%

BENGALURU:

Bengaluru recorded 3,509 fresh Covid-19 cases on Friday, the highest daily count this year, while 5 people died due to the infection, taking the city’s cumulative death toll to 4,635, according to the bulletin of the Karnataka Health Department.

Karnataka reported 4,991 positive cases in all, while Kalaburagi witnessed one death, taking the death toll statewide to 6 on Friday.

The positivity rate in the state also mounted to 4.19 % from 3.65 % a day earlier, amid a massive surge in cases in the last few weeks.

Bengaluru had reported 2,906 cases on Thursday with a positivity rate of 3.65 per cent.

Other districts which reported more cases are: Bidar (218), Kalaburagi (144), Mysuru (109), Tumakuru (102), Bengaluru Rural (73), Hassan and Mandya (67 each), Dharward (57) and Udupi (53).
