BENGALURU:
A gala award presentation ceremony marked the culmination of All India Vayu Sainik Camp (AIVSC-2023), the apex camp of Air Wing NCC, which was conducted by NCC Directorate Karnataka & Goa at Air Force Station Jalahalli. This event witnessed 608 Air Wing NCC cadets from all over the country compete against each other in various events that form a part of Air Wing NCC training curriculum, to win the coveted ‘Vayu Sena Trophy’ for the ‘Best Air Contingent’.
16 competing Directorates were represented by 38 cadets each, who underwent intensive training over the last few months to earn their place in the contingent. The cadets were pitted against each other in competitions such as drill, skeet shooting, 22 firing, aero modelling as well as field craft. The cadets were also assessed for their proficiency in microlight flying. The cadets were exposed to various activities with an aim to develop their personality, give them an exposure to the world of aviation and to motivate them to take up a career in the armed forces. The cadets got an opportunity to interact with keynote speakers from the armed forces and participated in an abridged training capsule conducted by Centre for Leadership & Behavioural Studies, a Service Training Institute of IAF. An educational visit to HAL museum and Shri Visvesvaraya Industrial & Technological Museum was a unique experience for these cadets.The winners of various competitions were fortunate to have been awarded the medals by Air Marshal Radhakrishnan Radhish AVSM VM, Air Officer Commanding in Chief Training Command IAF, who happened to be the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony. The Air Marshal also addressed the cadets on this occasion and shared inspiring anecdotes from his treasure trove of experiences as a military aviator. He impressed upon the cadets to move ahead in life with courage, confidence and moral fibre, so as to be true assets of the nation.
The contingent from NCC Directorate Karnataka & Goa stood first in firing and aero modelling. An unprecedent haul of 12 medals resulted in Karnataka & Goa winning the Vayu Sena Trophy for ‘Best Air Contingent’. NCC Directorate Maharashtra finished ‘First Runner up’ and also bagged the coveted ‘Best in Flying’ trophy.
