Bengaluru: In a major push toward seamless urban mobility, Karnataka’s Minister for Electronics, IT & BT, Shri Priyank Kharge on Wednesday launched the ONDC-enabled QR ticketing integration for Namma Metro commuters. The move allows commuters to book and use QR-based metro tickets through popular mobility apps like Rapido, Namma Yatri, Tummoc, and RedBus, marking a new chapter in smart transit solutions.
The integration, developed in collaboration with Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), brings metro ticketing services onto the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) platform, significantly enhancing commuter convenience by offering multiple digital touchpoints for journey planning and ticket access.
Shri Shankar A.S., Executive Director (Systems), represented BMRCL during the launch event.
Minister Kharge lauded the initiative as a “significant leap toward inclusive and interoperable mobility solutions,” highlighting its potential to revolutionize urban transport by merging technology with commuter-friendly practices. He also commended BMRCL’s progressive adoption of open digital frameworks, aligning with the state’s broader vision of smart mobility.
The initiative is expected to not only streamline travel for Bengaluru’s metro riders but also create a replicable model for other cities aiming to modernize public transport with digital innovation.
