Bengaluru: In a shocking case of domestic violence, a 29-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her husband in Bengaluru following a heated argument at their residence. The couple, both engineering graduates from Srinivaspura in Kolar district, had reportedly been facing ongoing marital issues.
The deceased, Padmaja, and her husband Harish had frequent quarrels, according to neighbors and initial police investigation. Harish, who had recently quit his job, was home at the time when a dispute escalated into a physical altercation. During the confrontation, he allegedly assaulted Padmaja, resulting in fatal injuries.
Police have taken Harish into custody and registered a case of murder. Further investigations are underway to determine the sequence of events and establish the motive behind the attack, said Sarah Fathima, DCP South-East division.Â
This case adds to the growing list of domestic violence incidents reported in Bengaluru, especially among educated, young urban couples. Experts have expressed concern over the increasing strain in marriages, citing a surge in the number of family disputes reaching courts in recent years.
