Bengaluru: Former MP D.K. Suresh has been elected unopposed as the new president of the Bangalore Milk Union Limited (Bamul), while Kuduru Rajanna from Magadi taluk has taken charge as the vice president. The election was held at the Bamul office in Bangalore Dairy Circle on Thursday.
No other candidates filed nominations for the post of president, leading to an uncontested election. Speaking to the media after his election, Suresh expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by the board and the farmers.
“Out of the 16 directors of Bamul, 14 were elected and two were nominated by the government. All directors unanimously selected me as president and Kuduru Rajanna as vice president,” he said.

Suresh attributed his victory to the consensus decision of local legislators including Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, district in-charge ministers Ramalinga Reddy and K.H. Muniyappa, and MLAs Balakrishna, C.P. Yogeshwar, Iqbal Hussain, Sharath Bachegowda, Krishna Byre Gowda, and others.
“I thank everyone for reposing faith in me. The cooperative society has entrusted me with this responsibility. Our dairy farmers and directors expect change and I will work with integrity to deliver justice to farmers and develop Bamul,” he added.
Plans to Expand Eco-Friendly Milk Packets Across Karnataka Responding to a question on whether Bamul would introduce eco-friendly milk packets similar to those in Kanakapura, Suresh said the initiative is being considered for statewide implementation. “We have already started a pilot distribution at the gram panchayat level. A detailed discussion on the pros and cons will be held in the upcoming board meeting,” he noted.
He also emphasized the need to expand the market and ensure better returns to milk producers. “The new board will work collectively with the government to bring about reforms in the dairy sector,” Suresh added, seeking media support for the initiatives ahead.
