Bengaluru: Residents, designers, architects, artists and students have been invited to propose improvements to Bengaluru’s everyday public spaces, with submissions for Bengaluru Design: Open Call closing on November 15, 2026.
The initiative, under Bengaluru Jatre, seeks practical and affordable ideas for streetlights, bus stops, benches, road medians, waste bins, civic signage, shopfronts and neighbourhood identities. Participants can also redesign an entire 500-metre stretch of the city.
How to submit designs
Entries can be emailed to support@bengalurujatre.in. Selected submissions will be displayed during Bengaluru Jatre from December 4 to 13, 2026, allowing residents to see the proposals and offer feedback.
A jury constituted by the Greater Bengaluru Authority will assess the strongest ideas. The best designers will also be invited to meet Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda to discuss their proposals.
Implementation depends on feasibility
Promising designs will be shared with the relevant city corporations for consideration. Implementation is not guaranteed: proposals will be subject to technical, financial, operational and site-specific feasibility.
The call also asks participants to explore distinct but connected visual identities for Bengaluru’s five city corporations. Designs should account for existing infrastructure, available materials, maintenance, accessibility and civic processes, with an emphasis on practical, affordable and scalable improvements.
“Good design must go beyond how something looks. It must work on the ground, be affordable to maintain, improve people’s everyday experience and be practical for our civic agencies to take forward,” Krishna Byre Gowda said.
