CCB sleuths arrest 2 Whitefield residents, seize narcotics worth Rs 2 crore

BENGALURU:

Sleuths of the Central Crime Branch, on a tip-off, arrested 2 drug peddlers on Friday and seized narcotics worth Rs 2 crore. The accused are Vikas and Shivam, residents of Pattanduru in Whitefield. They were allegedly providing doorstep deliveries of drugs to customers.

The seized narcotics include 150 grams of MDMA (Ecstasy) tablets, 400 grams of charas, 3 kg of hashish oil, 30 kg of ganja and 50 kg of hydro ganja.

Capital ‘connection’

The contraband, hidden in parcels, was allegedly sent by a Delhi-based gang by train to the accused, who would in turn provide ‘home delivery’ of the drugs to their customers.

The accused, who hail from Jharkhand, told the police that they used to procure the drugs from one Akshay Pande, a native of Bihar who is settled in New Delhi. According to the accused, Pande purchases the drugs on the dark net.

Rowdy-cum-peddler nabbed

In another case, the Bengaluru West division police have arrested a rowdy-cum-drug peddler. The accused, Mohammed Hameed (35), has been on the run for eight years. His brother, Mohammad Sadiq, has also been arrested. DCP (West) Sanjeev Patil said that with their arrest, around 15 cases of drug-peddling registered in various police stations across Bengaluru have been solved.

Hameed, a history-sheeter, used to procure ganja from Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. He was arrested in 2013, but obtained bail and was untraceable till now.

Police informant in net

In yet another case, the Kamakshipalya police arrested a police informant-turned-drug peddler, Ratan Lal, on Thursday, and recovered ganja and an airgun from him. Lal landed in the police net after he tried to give false information on drug-peddling.
