Accused were buying ‘hydro ganja’ seeds on dark net and growing them in Bidadi
BENGALURU:
Central Crime Branch sleuths recently arrested four persons, including two Iranian nationals, for peddling drugs in Bengaluru and seized ‘hydro ganja’ (marijuana) worth Rs 1 crore.
Acting on a tip-off, the CCB’s narcotics squad intercepted a white Skoda car at a crossroads in A block of Kaveri Nagar under the DJ Halli police station limits on September 26. The sleuths arrested the four occupants of the car, who were allegedly selling ganja to students and IT/BT employees.
Overstaying Iranians
As per sources, of the four persons arrested, two are Iranians. On interrogation, it was found that the duo were staying illegally in India despite their visas having expired.
A senior cop said that the four accused were purchasing ‘hydro ganja’ seeds through the dark web and were growing these at a rented villa near Bidadi.
Earlier, the two Iranians had been booked on two occasions at the Yeshwantpur police station.
The recent operation was carried out under the guidance of Joint Police Commissioner (Crime) Sandeep Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime II) BS Angadi, ACPs B Jaganath Rai and BS Ashok, and Inspector Deepak R.
