Bengaluru, July 6: A group of reckless bikers allegedly blocked the path of an ambulance carrying a patient and performed dangerous wheelies on a city road in the early hours of Friday, sparking widespread outrage and renewed concerns over road safety in Bengaluru.

The incident reportedly occurred at around 2:30 a.m. on July 4 on the stretch between Goraguntepalya and Yeshwanthpur. According to information available, the ambulance was transporting a patient who required urgent medical attention when five to six bikers allegedly rode in formation, obstructing its movement despite the ambulance’s siren being activated.

Eyewitnesses claimed the bikers continued performing stunt riding and refused to give way, forcing the ambulance to slow down while attempting to navigate through the obstruction. The alleged act delayed the emergency vehicle and endangered the patient inside.

The incident falls under the jurisdiction of the Yeshwanthpur Traffic Police Station. Following reports of the incident, citizens expressed anger on social media, calling for strict legal action against those involved. Many described the stunt as irresponsible and dangerous, arguing that obstructing an emergency vehicle could have life-threatening consequences.

Road safety experts have repeatedly stressed that emergency vehicles such as ambulances must be given immediate right of way, as even a few minutes of delay can prove critical in saving lives.

Police are expected to examine CCTV footage and any videos recorded by commuters to identify the bikers involved. Appropriate legal action is likely to be initiated if the allegations are substantiated.

The incident has once again highlighted the growing menace of illegal stunt riding on Bengaluru roads and the need for stricter enforcement against reckless driving that puts public safety at risk.
