Bengaluru, June 29: Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will begin door-to-door visits across Bengaluru from June 30 as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)–2026 of the electoral rolls, with Bengaluru District Election Officer and Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao urging citizens to cooperate by completing and submitting Enumeration Forms along with the required documents.

Addressing a press conference at the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) headquarters on Sunday, Maheshwar Rao said BLOs would personally visit every household to distribute Enumeration Forms as part of the Election Commission’s voter verification exercise.

He said that if residents are unavailable during the first visit, BLOs will make two additional visits to ensure that no household is left out of the survey.

76.32% Mapping Exercise Completed

Maheshwar Rao said that, as part of the preparatory work for the Special Intensive Revision, the Election Commission has been mapping the 2002 electoral roll with the 2025 electoral roll.

Out of 1,03,88,363 registered voters in Bengaluru, 79,27,902 voters (76.32%) have already been mapped, while the mapping of 24,60,461 voters remains pending. The remaining work will be completed shortly, he added.

Forms to Be Distributed in the Morning, Digitised the Same Day

The Chief Commissioner said BLOs will distribute Enumeration Forms during morning visits and collect the completed forms later in the day.

The collected forms will be digitised and uploaded online on the same day. Voters have also been requested to submit a recent passport-size photograph if they wish to update their existing photograph in the electoral roll.

Enumeration Forms can also be submitted at Voter Facilitation Centres and at designated polling stations on holidays.

2,855 Voter Assistance Centres Established

To assist citizens with voter registration and Enumeration Form-related queries, the administration has established 2,855 Voter Assistance Centres at the offices of Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs).

Citizens have been encouraged to utilise these centres for guidance throughout the revision process.

Additionally, 902 Facilitation Centres have been set up at ward offices to support the work of Booth Level Officers.

Nearly 9,000 BLOs Deployed

Maheshwar Rao said the district has deployed:

  • 28 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs)
  • 75 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs)
  • 905 BLO Supervisors
  • 8,972 Booth Level Officers (BLOs)

All officials have been trained for the house-to-house survey.

He added that recognised political parties have appointed 16,505 Booth Level Agents (BLA-2), and their details have been submitted to the election authorities.

Meeting Held with Political Parties

The Chief Commissioner said discussions were held with representatives of recognised political parties regarding the implementation of the Special Intensive Revision.

The meeting covered extending BLO services during evenings and holidays, distribution of voter identity cards, and coordination with Booth Level Agents during the verification process.

SIR–2026 Schedule

The Election Commission has announced the following schedule for the Special Intensive Revision:

  • House-to-house verification: June 30 – July 29, 2026
  • Rationalisation of polling stations: July 29, 2026
