Bengaluru: Auto Rickshaw Dreams Lead to Grandson’s Arrest for Jewelry Heist

Bengaluru: The Nandini Layout police in Bangalore have arrested a grandson for allegedly stealing jewelry from his grandmother’s house to purchase an auto rickshaw.

The accused has been identified as Mithun, 23. According to a complaint filed by Putnanjamma, a resident of Vijayanand Layout, Mithun was apprehended following an investigation by the Nandini Layout police. Authorities have recovered 81 grams of gold jewelry and ₹9.44 lakh in cash.

Mithun, who worked as a driver, had repeatedly asked his grandmother, Putnanjamma, to buy him an auto rickshaw. When she refused, he reportedly duplicated the key to the house’s safe. On May 1st, while Putnanjamma and her family were away for a festival, Mithun allegedly stole ₹10 lakh in cash and 125 grams of gold jewelry from the safe and fled, according to police reports.
