BENGALURU:
Those travelling to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) have repearedly complained of the traffic congestion en route. To reach the airport, located 35 km from the CBD, a majority of air passengers have to rely on cars, taxis and buses.
Now, their woes have been addressed with a railway halt station near the airport.
On Monday, Union Minister for Railways Piyush Goyal tweeted: “Railways’ gift to Bengaluru flyers: Fulfilling decade-old demand of people, a halt Railway Station is coming up near Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru.”

Earlier, the Ministry of Railways had tweeted: “Enhancing passenger convenience! Soon Bengaluru people can reach airport by taking a train! Work on railway halt station at Kempe Gowda International Airport on Yelahanka-Bangarpet line is progressing and will be completed by August 2020.”
