Bellandur Waste Weir–Virginia Mall Rajakaluve Project: Bengaluru East City Corporation Speeds Up Land Acquisition and Boundary Demarcation
Bengaluru: The Bengaluru East City Corporation has initiated measures to accelerate the demarcation of the Rajakaluve (primary stormwater drain) and the land acquisition process for the proposed Rajakaluve conservation, buffer zone development and service road project between the Bellandur Waste Weir/Outlet and Virginia Mall on Old Airport Road.
The directions were issued by Bengaluru East City Corporation Commissioner D.S. Ramesh during an inter-departmental coordination meeting convened to review the issuance of the preliminary Form-1 notification required for land acquisition for the project.
During the meeting, the Commissioner directed officials to accurately identify the original Rajakaluve boundaries and the buffer zone based on official land records, survey maps and field verification before finalising project plans. He instructed departments to coordinate closely to eliminate discrepancies in boundary identification and ensure that the project progresses without delays.
Emphasising the need for timely implementation, the Commissioner asked officials to expedite the land acquisition process through coordinated action among the concerned departments.
The meeting also reviewed the land acquisition process for the KRIDL-executed Varthur-Gunjur Road development project within the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) limits.
Officials were instructed to utilise land already earmarked for road widening through relinquishment deeds submitted by property owners during plan approvals. The Commissioner directed authorities to issue notices wherever required, expedite the Transferable Development Rights (TDR) process and complete the land acquisition within the stipulated timeline to avoid delays in the road development project.
The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner (Development) Lokhande Snehal Sudhakar, Additional Commissioner (Revenue) Dr. Pragya Ammembala, Joint Commissioner/Deputy Commissioner (TDR) Dr. Dakshayini K., Technical Directors, Chief Engineers (B-SMILE), Assistant Executive Engineer (TDR Division), Executive Engineers (Major Stormwater Drains and Lakes), officials of the Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA), Assistant Director (Land Records), Town Planners, officials from the TDR Division, Revenue Department and other senior officers.
