Bellandur apartment made containment zone after 10 Covid cases

Of apartment’s 9 blocks with 1,500 residents, 10 infections reported from 6 contiguous blocks

BENGALURU:

After the worrying Covid-19 outbreak at SNN Lake View Apartment on Bannerghata Road nearly a fortnight ago, which saw 106 residents of the complex testing positive, SJR Watermark Apartment at Ambalipura in Bellandur (ward 150) has become another containment zone with the reporting of 10 positive cases in the last week.

As per information shared by BBMP Commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad, 10 cases have been reported between February 15 and 22 at SJR Watermark Apartment. The apartment has 9 blocks with a total of 1,500 residents. The positive cases have been reported from 6 contiguous blocks, while another 3 blocks are almost 200 metres away and have not reported any infections as yet.

500 samples taken

On Monday, the Health Officer, Mahadevpura deployed 9 mobile teams which took 500 samples and sent them to Eurofins Lab for RT-PCR tests. The results will be available on Tuesday, Prasad said.

In the aftermath of the outbreak, the 6 contiguous blocks with 10 cases have been declared a containment zone by the Health Officer. Rigorous sanitisation has been taken up in the apartment premises, and a civic health team with 4 doctors has been deployed there.
