Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta says treefall, road inundation complaints should be attended to immediately

BENGALURU:

Following a sort but sharp downpour on Wednesday in various places within the BBMP limits, the weather department has said that the rains might continue for 3 more days. In this regard, incidents of treefall and inundation of roads must be attended to as soon as a complaint is raised from anywhere in the city, said BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta. Failing to attend expeditiously to complaints would lead to action against the officials concerned, the civic chief warned.

‘Rope in other staff’

In case of heavy rains in the city, Revenue, Health and Solid Waste Management officials as well as marshals can be roped in for relief work, Gupta said. BBMP teams should visit the spot immediately after receiving complaints in the control rooms, he added.

Smooth flow of water in all the raja kaluves (major storm water drains) in the city should be ensured, and neither should there be any problems with ‘kaccha’ raja kaluves, Gupta stressed.

All the zonal special commissioners, zonal joint commissioners, zonal chief engineers, chief engineers of road infrastructure/projects/ SWD, executive engineers and other concerned officials were present at the meeting.
