BBMP elections on track as government issues ward delimitation notification

Date:

BENGALURU:

The Karnataka government on Wednesday issued a ward delimitation gazette notification for 198 wards of BBMP, which now allows sitting and aspirant corporators a chance to see what their poll prospects are.

The current five-year term of BBMP corporators will end on September 10 but the state government had not issued the ward delimitation or ward reservation notification till now.

The state election commission had filed a case against the state government in the Karnataka High Court, which had directed the government to notify the ward delimitation.

Following the delimitation, former Mayors G Padmavati and Gangambike Mallikarjun — both from the Congress party — have lost their wards which have been merged with the neighbouring wards.
