BENGALURU: Several BBMP officials find themselves in a fix after the chief commissioner gave the nod for a departmental inquiry to be conducted against them from today in connection with the alleged Covid scandal which occurred when the BJP was in power.
Chief Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath, has given the green light for the inquiry, which will be led by Special Commissioner Vikas Soorlakar. The inquiry follows notices sent to over 200 BBMP officials seeking information on expenses incurred during the Covid pandemic period. While most health officials responded, 29 officials failed to reply, and 17 of them will face the departmental inquiry.
During the inquiry, officials will be questioned about why they didn’t respond to notices and about the expenses incurred during their tenure. If they fail to provide satisfactory answers, disciplinary action or suspension may be taken against them.
The officials facing inquiry include 16 from Dasarahalli zone, two each from East zone, RR Nagar and from the headquarters. The outcome of the inquiry will determine the course of action against them.
