BENGALURU:
After facing criticism from the local Mahadevapura MLA, Manjula Arvind Limbavali, regarding the contamination of several lakes in her assembly constituency due to the indiscriminate dumping of garbage, the Chief Commissioner of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), Tushar Giri Nath, has announced the immediate establishment of two leachate treatment plants.
The MLA’s concerns regarding the deteriorating condition of the lakes have prompted swift action from the BBMP Chief Commissioner. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Nath has prioritized the installation of two leachate treatment plants to address the issue at hand.

These treatment plants will play a crucial role in mitigating the contamination caused by the dumping of waste materials. By effectively treating the leachate, the harmful substances that seep into the lakes will be significantly reduced, ensuring the preservation of these vital water bodies.
“The local residents of Mittaganahalli and Kannur of Mahadevapura Assembly Constituency met me and lamented that solid waste was being dumped by BBMP in their surrounding areas, which was causing them many kinds of problems and requested to resolve them at the earliest,” said MLA Manjula Limbavali in her post on Facebook.
In response to this request, today, along with former minister and chairman of Mahadevapura Task Force Shri Aravind Limbavali, inspection of the Solid Waste Disposal Unit was conducted to verify the actual situation, she added.
