Bengaluru: Karnataka Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti has departed for the United States to participate in the prestigious Legislative Summit 2025, scheduled from August 4 to 6 in Boston. This high-level international conference aims to foster democratic governance, legislative autonomy, and bipartisan engagement.
The event, organised under the aegis of the National Conference of State Legislators and National Legislators’ Conference Bharat, will see participation from over 15,000 dignitaries, including Members of Parliament from India, MLAs, MLCs, ministers, policy experts, political analysts, and democratic institution leaders from across the globe.
During the three-day summit, discussions will focus on strengthening democratic institutions, financial autonomy of legislatures, non-partisan functioning of legislative bodies, and various legislative best practices. Key themes include democratic empowerment, policy innovation, and global legislative cooperation.
Horatti is leading a Karnataka delegation that will also undertake a study tour covering New York, Dallas, and Buffalo before reaching Boston by August 3. The delegation will participate in the summit from August 4 to 6, and conduct additional learning sessions in Boston on August 7, before returning to Bengaluru on August 8.
